I'd say the more information you provide, the better off you are. I doubt gender will play a role.
And tbh, I'm not expecting a huge amount of beta testers, considering they need the PC support for each person playing.
As far as beta testing goes i am curious about the abundance of people they are going to allow to engage in beta testing. Also i know on the site they ask a series of questions. If you can answer all of them rather than selecting "I Don't Know" are you more likely to get the oportunity? Also does gender have anything to do with it, You know let some girls and guys play it?![]()

They should select a wide range of specs and genders and whatever to see how the service performs on difference settings, distances, bandwidth, etc. and try compare what works good and what doesn't and adress any issues before they sell it.
And volume should be part of that testing too.
Beta isn't always good for "free play". You can expect to encounter issues and report these and discuss them. And you won't always have up-time as it's up to the developers. And they may even throttle settings and break things to test how the sytem works and you will be subject to that. Only do it if you're can accept these without complaining and are willing to sometimes "waste your time" for a moment of experiencing it.

For what this project is I jumped onto the beta application right away. I can't wait. I've beta tested quite a few things in the past. It is frustrating sometimes and it is rewarding all in the same.
Well, my guess is the beta will proceed incrementally. They will invite people on a little bit at a time to see how the system scales. People in the midwest datacenter region will probably be invited last, because AFAIK they have not built their midwest datacenter yet...
I don't expect any invites before E3, because I am willing to bet my sig line that Microsofts E3 announcement includes the announcement that they have purchased OnLive.
i bet they'll have tons of people join in. or like the other guy said have more and more people join throughout the summer. i can at least guarantee a lot of people will get in cause they want to test their servers
