Have you played SpaceChem? I'm guessing the answer is no. It seems the Onlivefans community is barely aware of this game's existence. For example, the thread announcing the release of SpaceChem along with four other games has six pages of comments, but only only one mentions SpaceChem. Everybody seemed to only be interested in Bastion at the time, except hawesy007.

i tell you what you can keep your Bastion. i am totally hooked on SpaceChem. seriousley. if you like puzzle games it is the best one i have played for years. Thank you OnLive

Ditto! Bastion is a great game, but SpaceChem is a masterpiece.

I think it's innaccurate to label SpaceChem as a puzzle game because the game doesn't really give you puzzles. You're given goals. To meet those goals, you are provided a blank canvas with two waldos and an collection of symbols to construct your solution with. There are no rules on how your solution should be implemented. Your solutions can be fast, slow, simple, or laughably inefficient. No other game on Onlive grants as much artistic freedom as SpaceChem.

Thankfully, this freedom does not make the game easy. SpaceChem is difficult, very difficult. I have spent hours upon hours trying to find solutions for single levels, but this does not detract from the game at all. It's one of the best features. Those hours flew by, and successfully completing these diifficult levels makes me feel like, as Quintin Smith put it, "some kind of floating, untouchable genius, not fit to eat the food of mortals."

This game has amazing replayability too. I'm never satisfied with my initial solutions because they are either not elegant enough, or not absurd enough. I've played most of the levels I have completed at least three times so far, and I'm sure I'll go back for more.

I've dedicated most of my time to this game over the past few days. It's hard to sleep because I can't stop forming possible solutions in my head. It's been a very long time since a game has affected me like this.

I can't believe I've been ignoring this gem for so long. I highly recommend you all try SpaceChem. I know it doesn't look like much, but you'll love the game once you get past the learning curve. It is, in my honest opinion, the best game Onlive has.

Nvidia VGX cloud graphics chips and systems= death of consoles
Now it’s just OnLive or Gaikai its Nvidia. Nvidia’s VGX boards pack 768 Cuda cores or 6144 streaming cores and 16GB of ram onto a single board. Up to 100 users can use a single board. IBM, HP, Cisco, Dell, Supermicro are all set to release cloud systems to fuel cloud gaming based on the Nvidia chips. Nvidia is also releasing its own GeForce grid. Nvidia has of course partnered with OnLive and others. The articles point out that consoles are not necessary and these can run straight away on screens and they talk about latencies in the 10ms range a range better than what consoles provide.

Some number tossed around in one of the articles talked of a 8x compute increase at half the power and half the cost. This is clearly Nvidia’s new focus.

The only conclusion is that consoles are dead. It’s interesting, clearly unmanned drones are sometimes piloted in real time by pilots on the other side of the planet. That clearly shows the potential for cloud gaming and data center concentration.

First Post, so Hi!

Recently purchased a Sony Tablet S, and had a bit of a play with OnLive.

It works very well, up until I use the bluetooth connection to connect a PS3 Pad.

At this point, the connection to Onlive drops below quality and ranges from blocky, laggy display of games to not connecting to onlive at all.

Has anyone else experienced this? I will try tonight using the PS3 controller in a wired configuration, but ideally I would like to use it wirelessly.

Thanks in advance.

http://www.dayzmod.com

http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/05/12/fo...-survival-mod/

Read, and be shaken by your shoulders: the open-world zombie game you’ve probably always wanted exists. It’s called Day Z.

It runs as a mod for Arma 2: Combined Operations, in a haunted version of Arma’s 225 km² imitation of the Czech Republic, Chernarus. It isn’t perfect. The servers are usually full. But it is an incredible adaptation of the things Arma does well: emergent gameplay, making you feel vulnerable and powerful, decision making, managing supplies, and tense teamwork.

How does Day Z work?
Actually, it’s miraculous that it functions at all. Having pulled out my own hair dealing with Arma’s sometimes flaky netcode, it’s unbelievable that the game can sustain 500-some AI-controlled zombies and fifty players simultaneously.

Players spawn at one of many pre-set locations with a basic kit: a pistol, flares, some painkillers, some beans, a canteen. Other than that, you’re naked: mapless and compassless in one of gaming’s biggest environments. Food, equipment, and weapons (including custom weapons like a quiet-firing crossbow) can be found around the game world or from killing other players.

If you die, that character is permanently dead. If you exit a server and rejoin another, you’ll resume your most recent character–in the spot and with the gear that you left them. That’s Day Z’s persistency in a nutshell.

Survival mechanics like food and water intake are layered atop the threat of zombies. There’s hunting. You need to take morphine to ignore pain. There’s a lot more to tell, but part of the experience is figuring this stuff out for yourself in a brutal setting.

Why should I play it?
In short: it’s scary as hell, full of stealth and surprise, you can’t trust anyone, roleplaying is effortless, and you might save the life of someone that sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Hi all,

In case you were not aware the update to the OnLive software has disabled mouseover interactions throughout every menu in Onlive. Personally I feel like something is now missing from the platform and it kind of bothers me (maybe OCD or something).

Anyone find any other updates that I did not come across? What are your feelings on this update? Was it needed, should it be reverted? Let us know!

UPDATE: Closed Onlive then reopened and now it is working again but the input lag for selection is extremely slow. Anyone else having this issue or is it not working still for anyone else?

It just constantly says failed, well it connected once randomly, but when I tried to set it up via voice chat settings said failed. So, I unpaired it and it hasn't reconnected since.
The headset in question is the Gioteck EX-01, it was originally a PS3 headset and it isn't "officailly supported" by Onlive, just wondered if anyone knows why it won't connect/if anyone has any ideas on how to get it to work.
Cheers.
