PS3 Slim was announced today(August 18th) at GameCon and will be priced at $299 for 120gb. Im really getting tempted to buy one since I only have a 360. Hopefully the onlive beta starts soon so I can save my self 300 and keep myself busy with that.

There is also rumored to be a 250gb PS3 Slim being prepared for release. Since the 120gb is $300, I would guess that if the rumors are true that the 250gb PS3 Slim would be $400. Watch the PS3 leapfrog the Xbox 360 sales in 1 year. :) (And no I am not a Sony fanboy. I own all three consoles.)

hahaha I love how the PS3 is cheaper then the 360, that was the 360s biggest argument hahaha the 360 elite is 400$ and if this is 300$ with same hard drive there will be more buyers for sure =)

I could care less about the hard drive space. There are VERY few games that I would play on the ps3, and it would end up collecting dust under my tv. Their exclusive games look sub-par, and I'm not paying $300 for a blu-ray player.

Thinking about it, things weren't going so well for the ps3 this year, and judging by how things are shaping (with cloud gaming & stuff) i don't see a bright future for sony's console ><.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, onlive is great and all but people wont stop getting normal systems for it, I doubt for the first maybe 3 years people will actually switch there consoles over.... and There is a ton of games to play on the PS3 you must not like many types of games if there is no games on the PS3 you'd play...

I would much rather play games on the 360 than on the ps3, and I'm definitely not going to buy 2 copies of the same game for 2 different consoles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS3_exclusives is the list of all of the ps3 exclusives, and honestly, there is only 1, maybe 2 games I would consider playing.

And those are? Because I can name alot more on PS3 I'd rather play....

MGS4, Killzone 2, Warhawk, MotorStorm 1 and 2, Infamous, Resistance 1 and 2 and then all the download able games are fun too.

I could keep going =)

I played MGS4 and wasn't impressed whatsoever. I would rather play all of the Call of Duty games, Madden and NCAA, Tiger Woods, Mass Effect, and Rainbow Six. These are just the the ones I have played in the past month.

The weird thing is that Microsoft makes you pay enormous amounts of money for a new hard drive but they have a on demand service for downloading full games. The problem is nobody has enough space.

You didn't play the fun parts then, there is some parts people are like that, play the games once through with watching all the videos and you'll be like OMG that was amazing! And all those games but mass Effect u could also play on PS3...

I've got the big 3 and am satisfied with 2 or 3 consoles. My Wii being the only disappointment. My 360 is great for community FPS's. Especially Left 4 Dead. The rest of the time I am on my PS3 playing Warhawk with my clan. I have a great time.

The Slim and new price point are great steps in the right direction. Many 360 owners are tired of FPS after FPS after FPS. The 360 exclusives are great but they aren't entirely pouring out. I know quite a few 360 owners that have been keeping an eye on the PS3 waiting for a price drop.

MS was going to have a price drop as well when it comes to the Elite model to replace the Pro Model. They dropped the bomb yesterday that it wasn't going to open. Reason... Over stock. They have too many consoles left over to justify a price drop. They could have done it anyways. Dropping the Pro to 249 and getting rid of that over stock. They didn't play it every well. The sales have stalled simply because people who wanted a 360 already have one. Majority of buyers are people replacing.

The other problem is HDD prices. Man are they expensive. I can get a TB ext HDD for 89 bucks nowadays. MS wonders why their On Demand service isn't doing so well out of the gate. No one wants to waste money on more hard drive space. They desperately need to cut the prices on that.

As much as I love the thought of Onlive and can't wait for it. Not all people do. Many would rather have physical games. For some games I do as well. Especially some of the cooler special editions of games.

It's not just the hard drive space but the cost for games on the demand service is quite terrible, mass effect £20? I can buy it in store pre-owned for £5, same goes for COD2 for £20?

Do they realise how old that game actually is?

I will give you a list of exclusives that are anywhere from very good to amazing on the PS3:

Resistance: Fall of Man
Resistance 2
Killzone 2
Haze
Heavenly Sword
Lair
Ratchet & Clank Future
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time
God of War III
Demon's Souls
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
MAG
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Quantum Theory
Motorstorm
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
inFamous
Warhawk

I probably missed some, but that gives you an idea of great PS3 exclusives.

Plus the PS3 has more power than the Xbox 360. Just compare Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, or God of War III to the 360's best game. (Gears of War 2?) They all blow it away in the graphics department.

When it comes to power, the 360 and PS3 are more even than you think. PS3 more processing power. 360, more ram and mulitple processors to spread out the word load. If the PS3 had more ram I would agree with you. Unfortunately, it can barely run Fallout3 and Oblivion with rampant stutters and frame rate crawls.

Also on your list of exclusives, let's leave out Lair and Haze. Not really the best representation of the system.

Reminds me, I need to play some Warhawk tonight.

Never played Lair thank god, and Haze was pathetic.
However yes, their are some top PS3 exlcusives. I think the timing of the PS3 Slim is more about what PS3 will recieve, unique titles such as Heavy Rain. I believe no console wins and where exclusives are concerned its down to opinion but PS3 also getting FF Versus 13 and FF 14 exclusive is fairly big. If only 360 didn't get FF 13, I reckon that would have been a MASSIVE blow to microsoft.

I love Haze and Lair! Haze was just overhyped. If you play while expecting an average game, you will love it. And Lair was just rated badly because the reviewers suck at games. They said the controls bad, when I find them to be the best in any flying game yet.

@Niko408

Those examples are bad. Those are lazy Xbox 360 ports.

I know that the notice is in portuguese, but the interesting part is just the picture xD

It seems the japanese aren't that interested in the console... Or they prefer to buy it in the internet hehe
