Let me know what you think of the new template:
http://onlivefans.com/news/

Looks more mature than the other template.

Don't know if it's my computer at work, but where it says "Onlivefans.com News" looks a little bit too bland just black, but that's just me...

But I do like it, love the format

It definitely looks more modern, and much easier on the eyes. I do think you accidentally a word in the header, though. :P

Ed

what word?

Your Unofficial Source (For) OnLive News, unless omitting it was on purpose.

Nah, didn't get that far yet lol. I now put the header up :)

OK, let me know if anyone is getting any glitches or anything. Also if anyone has any other ideas of what we can add or subtract, let me know.

I don't know if I'm feeling the banner that far from the menu (Forum, privacy policy)

The problem is that if it's right on top of that menu the contrast between the pale orange in the menu and the bright orange in the image might look weird.

What do you think?

The distance between the banner and the main menu in the forum looks great, can you do that in the news site? sorry to be such a pain

Holy shit. Where did this sexiness come from?

Ed

Oh yea, one thing. Could you maybe make the nav bar, "The Forum, Privacy Policy...." a little bolder. The text kind of gets lost in the orange IMO.

LOL, I had this theme on the site already, just never activated it. We did try it once before but ended up deciding against it for some unknown reason. Hopefully I'm not missing some glitch that made us forget about it before.

Vastly better, now my eyes won't be screaming from too much orangeness.

The gap between the banner and the menu is killing me, I'd show you a print screen but my crappy computer is not letting me...

Yes, a lot cleaner and more professional looking. Well done. Just one thing, don't know if possible, is there a way to have a quick link for articles on the side? For instance, it will say "previous articles" and then have June, May, etc. in decending order. When you click on the month, it will expand and quickly show the articles for that month. Kind of like the official OnLive blog does it. Would that even be possible or easy to do?

Ed

bass what gap? Didn't you say to put a space there?

bassrebel
07-22-2011, 04:19 PM
I wish I could do a print screen but I can't :/

I would like for it to look like in the forums just minimal gap between both of them, but again, it might be IE5 not reading scripts well

Ed

ThePlague, I made the namebar a little bolder. Is that better?

Lord Xenu

Perfection.

Ed

OK I did see what Bass was talking about. For some reason IE messes up the spacing. I fixed it, but it also adds a little more space between the header image and the menu bar on chrome and firefox. What do you guys think? Too much space on chrome and firefox?

I see that, I guess for now you can leave it like it was before. I'll try to play with the codes once I get home to see if there's anything that can be done with it.

Ryan, I can't figure out how to put this on the top menu bar. Not sure its possible without some coding. I did manage to get it on the side bar though.

Now that it was changed, on my 15.7 1366x768 res laptop monitor, I am getting about 1/2 inch gap in Chrome almost 1/3 in Firefox.

Ed
07-22-2011, 04:57 PM
OK, should I change it back? In IE, the menu bar is covered by the image if I don't leave it how it is.

I like the way it looks. looks much better, however I have 2 beefs. 1 the banner doesn't look that good with the new look. How bout designing a new one? 2 now I have to click the articles to read the whole article? I liked being able to read the whole thing on the main page. Maybe you can make that an option?

We may work on a new header banner, if we can find someone to do it. As for reading the whole post, I prefer the short blurbs as it isn't impossible to see all the headlines like it was on the old layout.

It's all good in the hood. I had to ask though.

Short bits are better because you can see more news in a shorter span of time with minimal scrolling.

Not a big deal to me, but I did notice the author names on the articles got chopped. Any way to get them back in? Seems pretty standard to have the names in most news sites.

bassrebel
07-22-2011, 06:20 PM
the one thing I see is "Posted by"

Does that mean written by?

Ed

I like it. Look even better when I get my computer. Looks good even on a console browser.
