Here's some related news. Gaikai and OTOY have apparently come out of “secrecy” to announce their competing product with the revelation of OnLive. One of them has claimed to use an AMD supercomputer class cloud computing system.

My "OnLive wants Microsoft to buy them" conspiracy theory gains credibility...
Looks like the race is on to be first. That means all these companies need capital. Best way to do that is demonstrate viability, then get bought.

Uhhh...that OnLive dude is already rich. Incidentally, he already sold WebTV to Microsoft for some obscene amount a decade ago! ;) It's known as MSNTV. Not to mention his other 80 intelectual property holdings.

OnLive will own both OTOY and gaikai. Gaikai runs on flash (Which is horrible for HD and live streaming) and OTOY isn't really even like the other two from what I have seen.

Steve Pearlman does have obscene amounts of money, when someone is that rich, making money is secondary, he's a person with many ideas in his head and wants to make them into reality. He would sell the onLive patents to Microsoft just so he can fund his next project and to see his other ideas into reality. Warren Buffet is worth 45 billion dollars but he wakes up everyday and works 10 hours, he doesn't have to, but he wants to because he gets a personal satisfaction out of doing what he always wanted to do, that is changing the world.

Yeah his track record indicates that he's into bringing "advanced technology" into the hands of "low-tech" people....most of whom wouldn't bother with it if they have to read a reviews or specs for 3 hours, never mind the manual. In a sense Steve jobs is like this in some ways. But a lot more flashy. lol
