I really think this might be an april fools day joke. only to be told to us on april 1st. i really hope im wrong and that this will come out in the winter. but here are my reasons for thinking so.
1. Many of the videos, and screen shots show a very simple menu screen. though they claim al the little squares of video will be individual players and game ad's w/e, i think theyre all pre recorded videos. so this, being the only really impressive feature of the menu makes me doubt the menu entirely.

2. ITS AMAZING, oh my goodness. this is, if it works just how they tell is it will. If it does, i jsut dont see how any other form of media could beat it.

3. to be combined with #2. its amazing, and its been in "secrete development" for 7 years, and just told to the masses days before april 1st. Yes, they told us it was hard to keep a secrete. but i think we would have gotten wind somewhere along the 7 year trip. not much else has gone 7 years without a single leak. combined with its sheer awesomness, i really dont see how they kept the lid on it.

4. Also, the plain and simple size of this product. these super computor servers that say will be running it all, man thats some serious cashola. and sending all the actions of, alot of both the PC and console communitie's(all console) population, thats alot of internets. .

Thats pretty much it, the game industy has a history of gags. i just thought this sounded plausable, and the more i think on it the more i belive it is just a joke. BUT MAN I HOPE IT'S REAL

*edit. anyone notice how in the conference at GDC price was completely avoided. there was some talk, but really not much at all, and no solid figures said. Why? well i think its because they really just dont know how much a service like that would cost.

!!@!** edit#2. the actual hardwear. oh my goodness. it just looks too simple. like something thrown together in very short time, this goes for their logo aswell. the controller shape is nothing new at all. ive seen many 3rd party xbox controllers shaped very similar. also, i dont know who else noticed in the conference that they made a special note to tell everyone that this is not "smoke and mirrors, theres noone behind the curtain". ive never seen any intoduction gaming tech need to mention such things. but the magician always makes sure that youre confident in his lie.

all of it just seems slighly off:/. a weak menu, looks like it just lacks effort. a very typical controller would have been very easy to produce at short notice. all the gaming footage weve seen would also be very easy to produce/fake. their total secrecy. again, i hope its real. but i have my doubts.

If it is an April Fool's joke, this would be a pretty disappointing one. I've been really looking forward to this, but I think it's just because this type of technology hasn't been introduced before and thats why people think its too good to be true.

On this video the game fails to load. I mean, its just a joke and they actually made up the "failed to load the game"? O.o

Even if it was pre-recorded videos in the background, I wouldn't be bothered. If you look at his controller in the press conference with the tv behind him, you can see that as he moves a stick or presses a button it happens on the screen, so the menu is real.

2. ITS AMAZING, oh my goodness. this is, if it works just how they tell is it will. If it does, i jsut dont see how any other form of media could beat it.
This is a reason why it isn't real?

When you've signed contracts outlining that if you speak a word of it to anyone, we'll sue you for all you've got, i'd keep quiet.

When Bill Gates said that everyone would have a computer in their home, he was laughed out of the room. If people don't think big and push the capabilities of what is thought possible, the world would seece to progress.

This is the initial unvieling of the product, pricing is not a requirement at this time, especially when it is still in a beta stage.

I think you're reading into this a little too much, he knows that everyones first reaction is going to be 'wait, thats impossible', I think that he is just acknowledging this intial thought that the people in the audience would have.

My main reason for believeing that this is real is the people who are behind it. I doubt the guy behind webTV and quicktime, the ex-head of eidos and the founder of mozilla.org would waste their time creating such an ellaborate and well constructed prank. Also the publishers they've mentioned; EA, Ubisoft, THQ... These are big companies to whom time is money, why would they concern themselves with participating in an april fools joke in this time of financial crisis while they're struggling to keep studios open and are having to lay off staff.

Having said that, if it does turn out to be a joke, I'll be the first to admit I was fooled.

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the biggest april fools ever, but I doubt it. They were running Crysis on a Mac in a Safari browser -explain that. Don't forget all those at GDC who demoed it on craptops. Nope-its not "Smoke and mirrors."

This can't be a April fools joke. They spent too much money in marketing it.

This theory is debunked a long time ago. If this was a joke then it involved a multiple corporation cooperative effort. Why would they do that? OnLive is not alone. They are just the first to reveal themselves.

If this was a april fools joke, there would be massive lawsuits and someone would end up in prison.

No lawsuits or prison, but ask yourself this: "Why would someone joke about this?"

I think that if you ask yourself that, you'll see that noone is joking about it at all.

To top it off, I don't think anyone would find it very amusing, it would just piss off a lot of people.

This would, I think, still be the biggest April Fools, EVER! Tomorrow will either be a day of sadness or gladness. I definitely hope this is real and I am 99% sure it is.
