Anyone know how the renting is gonna work. I think it would be awesome to just save money on games. I beat a lot of games within a week and if i could just pay 10 bucks to play and beat a game within a week instead of 60 bucks to beat it in a week and never play again it would be great.
No one really knows for sure yet. I heard one rumor that said that there would be game rentals for periods of 5 days at a time. I have a feeling it will end up being a daily rental price and you can rent it for as long as you like. Perhaps if you take 5 days upfront it would be cheaper though.

I expect part of the beta process will not only be technical, but will be market research. But part of the price of games will almost certainly be how it needs to be hosted. So games like Lego batman will be less, and games like Crysis will be more.
Also is a DRM heavy environment like this, all games are rentals. Even if it is a permanent rental...
Parsing words during the GDC press conference, he said it would be a good value with regards to hardware, and declined to talk about software price.
I expect some publishers like EA and UBI will be greedy and initially charge full retail price for your permanent rental. I would call on onlivefan users to agree to boycott any publishers that presume that we are willing to pay full retail price, and only ever "buy" games that are discounted (the way steam does over the weekend) or games that charge a fair price (I say $15 for games like lego batman and $30 for Crysis). Because OnLive will not be a mechanism for software pirates, who hurt us all, and nearly destroyed PC gaming at the launch of this generation of consoles.

Yes, I also heard 5 day rentals from a demo video. I would also hope that games would be discounted on OnLive, but I really doubt it, unless it gets really popular; then maybe prices would drop down, say, $10.
There's no way they'd charge "full price" for a game on Onlive. You pay that 60 or 50 dollars because you're buying a physical copy of the game that you can play and take anywhere, and because you're paying for things like disc cost and whatnot.
I foresee most likely a rental system. For a certain price, you're allowed to play a certain amount of games as many times as you'd like. For the sake of the argument, let's say 5 games is that limit. You choose your 5 games, and after paying the price, you can switch between any of those games for up to a month perhaps? But what if you don't like the game after a while? Here's where Onlive will make it's money.
I could see them charging you to A) "Swap out" one of your current games, or B) Add another game for a premuim price.

Nope, that is not how it is set up. It is set up to let each game maker to put in their rental and purchase prices. It allows bundles by partners for a few of their games but other than that... I see a standard pricing set-up.
Also... when they refer to multiple pricing tiers, they were really talking about how the games were purchased or rented or the bundles, not multiple subscription tiers (like Xbox Live Gold and Silver)
Deya,
Check out the price of UBI and EA games on Steam. Full retail price...
And you own those games. You can mod those games, play them as many times as you like, and if the internet goes, they'll still be there. If it's on disc or save able to your PC, then full price. If not, then why pay for something you're not getting?

I heard from a demo video that rentals will be five days, but What about the cost of renting? Would they charge more for renting crysis than pacman? I don't know?

Will it be possible to pay one flat monthly price and have access to the entire library? A video game version of NetFlix on demand?
