How do I not subscribe to any threads?

I see the option to unsubscribe from threads manually, but I see none to keep from getting subscribed automatically. I'm having my inbox flooded with useless updates since I check the forum regularly.

I really think this should be turned off by default. I can imagine computer noobs being put off by it, not knowing it could possibly be turned off.

2. Mouse to General Settings (left side bar)
3. On Default Subscription Mode click 'do not Describe'
