Alright. The name of this site is (scroll up it's written real big) onLiveFans. I understand there are a lot of people who would rather shoot down a good idea then lift it up. But this is not the forum for that. Let's see how it goes before we determine if it's economically viable or not.

Pundits! (that's you)

unfortunately it seems that a lot of people think that the whole OnLive thing is just too good to be true. Honestly I think i've seen enough to know that this could potentially be a HUGE success.

People are naturally skeptical about such a radical change, but I would love to see this succeed.

THIS IS THE FUTURE!

Nicely put Zuldn3r - It's hard to accept something that you aren't use to

put it like this...

If you lived in the 90's and somebody told you what the xbox 360 can do, do you think they'd believe you?

no, probably nobody would.

And as for the fact that this is OnLive"Fans" doesn't mean that only fans of the product should be welcomed - that's just stupid
:)

of course we accept everyone here :) The only stipulation is that you are respect other forum members and that you aren't posting fraudulent information about OnLive or you come here just to put it down. Otherwise we're just a bunch of dorks who are damn excited about this service

I totally agree i'm just really excited at this type of possibility. Even if it doesn't work perfectly, it will lay the groundwork for greater things to come.

I'm sure it will work out.
If they nearly perfected it a year ago then it would have came out 5 years in the making. However they waited until now to make it public because I truly think they have worked all the kinks out. With all these big names signing up to be a part of it then something must be right! You have xbox and ps3 and pc with all its titles and this brings them all into 1.
I think people are just scared of what this is capable of doing.
And we as a people have always been reluctant to accept new things so it doesn't come as a surprise to me that people are against it.

I'm excited, I was skeptical at first, but after watching the press release... Oh and I can't believe people are worried about Internet Connection, I live in a rural area, of South Carolina. I get 10 mbps for I believe 65.00, Plus my cable, but we have a basic package... Upload is horrible though! I'm glad about this whole new not having to upgrade, plus digital distribution, as long as I actually have something tied to my name, or account. I'm fine, because I mean honestly I scratch up cds pretty badly, because I have a younger sibling, whom happens to destroy stuff. Plus my computer is a piece of junk. It has a Geforce 6200

I really think this might be an april fools day joke. only to be told to us on april 1st. i really hope im wrong and that this will come out in the winter. but here are my reasons for thinking so.
1. Many of the videos, and screen shots show a very simple menu screen. though they claim al the little squares of video will be individual players and game ad's w/e, i think theyre all pre recorded videos. so this, being the only really impressive feature of the menu makes me doubt the menu entirely.

2. ITS AMAZING, oh my goodness. this is, if it works just how they tell is it will. If it does, i jsut dont see how any other form of media could beat it.

3. to be combined with #2. its amazing, and its been in "secrete development" for 7 years, and just told to the masses days before april 1st. Yes, they told us it was hard to keep a secrete. but i think we would have gotten wind somewhere along the 7 year trip. not much else has gone 7 years without a single leak. combined with its sheer awesomness, i really dont see how they kept the lid on it.

4. Also, the plain and simple size of this product. these super computor servers that say will be running it all, man thats some serious cashola. and sending all the actions of, alot of both the PC and console communitie's(all console) population, thats alot of internets. .

Thats pretty much it, the game industy has a history of gags. i just thought this sounded plausable, and the more i think on it the more i belive it is just a joke. BUT MAN I HOPE IT'S REAL

*edit. anyone notice how in the conference at GDC price was completely avoided. there was some talk, but really not much at all, and no solid figures said. Why? well i think its because they really just dont know how much a service like that would cost.

!!@!** edit#2. the actual hardwear. oh my goodness. it just looks too simple. like something thrown together in very short time, this goes for their logo aswell. the controller shape is nothing new at all. ive seen many 3rd party xbox controllers shaped very similar. also, i dont know who else noticed in the conference that they made a special note to tell everyone that this is not "smoke and mirrors, theres noone behind the curtain". ive never seen any intoduction gaming tech need to mention such things. but the magician always makes sure that youre confident in his lie.

all of it just seems slighly off:/. a weak menu, looks like it just lacks effort. a very typical controller would have been very easy to produce at short notice. all the gaming footage weve seen would also be very easy to produce/fake. their total secrecy. again, i hope its real. but i have my doubts.

Hey OnLivefans.com, buy OnLivism.com and have it redirect here!!! That would be intense.

But yes, I take my religion seriously. I pray to the Firefox God everyday, and I know that someday it will answer my prayers with a 1MB plug-in to OnLive.

I think it will work where lag is not THAT big of a deal. If it's a super reaction game, maybe there might be initial problems...and who knows, maybe they can solve most of the issues later.

The pesimisim is understandable since most people haven't seen the new surge of HD breakout because it's mostly been happening in the industrial sector. There is an HD video conferencing system for comsumers due out Q209 from taiwan or something it seems.

Commercial (Sony): http://revver.com/video/731895/sony-ipela-hd-video-conferencing/
Consumer (FaceVision): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtbPr5siC-Q

Most of these things had inittially been revealed in professional Web conferences like Web 2.0, InterOp. But these aren't things that most people outside the industry attend and they don't advertise to consumers. But the FaceVision one is $100 only...but probably not super reliable compared to the Sony. But as of present, even this product is only revealed to "industry insiders" until it's ready for market.
