Karl Bode of DSL Reports talked about how some of the new trends show how Mobile Telcos could soon become extinct and face phones that don't need them.
This is what we need as a public. Bode gives several good examples of how this might go down very quickly these include Google Voice and how Apples teleconference on iPhone quickly cuts the telco out of the loop.
All media including games have been disintermediated by the net and given the structure of the net its possible to cut telcos out both the net and mobile phones. Cutting them out of the net may be a little more troublesome but people may not end up dealing with them as their ISP and its not only them who maintains the backbones or is capable of maintaining them.
