I don't really know if this is in the right forum or not (sorry for being a noob). Well my question is when you buy a game from OnLive how does it work? Do you keep the game and be able to play it offline or you have to be online to play it. Also can you save your data and stuff.

Okay thanks all my questions were answered. O Not locking cool I guess :)

Its just like downloading from XBL or PSN. You are given an ownership license for the title as long as you own the (account). It is an unlimited license for your use.

You will save your data to one of the Onlive servers. And since the games are hosted from the Onlive servers, you will have to be on the internet to access them.

Edit:A thread you may be interested in Soulz, is http://www.onlivefans.com/showthread.php?t=171, it is an interesting discussion related to this topic. I'm not going to lock this topic though, because this thread asks a different question than the other thread. :D

I thought that I would add a little bit and break this down.:D

When you buy a game, you enter your credit card number and the game just plays. (I'll explain how) You can keep the game forever if you buy, but there is a rental option that will probably be 5 days.

You also cannot play any of your games offline because the game is truely running on their servers and streamed to you in a video. For instance, you click a button. It is sent to their servers. Then, they send you the next video frame which is then displayed on your TV.

Of course they will allow you to save your games. In fact, the games (and their save) can be accessed on any Internet enabled PC, Mac, or MicroConsole. OnLive will actually allow to pick up the game right where you left off. Right at the pause menu of a particular game.

See I thought how it worked is you bought the mini console and payed a subscription than you could play all games if you just kept paying the monthly fees. If you have to do both and buy the games, I most likely will not make the jump ton Onlive. Its not that really different than a console. I will be able to play the console with no internet connection and can buy the games for cheaper. I am not bashing Onlive at all and think its a fantastic idea, but is just not for me from what I hear.

I have probably said this 10 times, but the subscription and the price for games will still be cheaper than upgrading a console, subscribing for an online service, and buying the games.

Yes, they will definitive have separate charges for games and usage.

Well that's not very persuasive.

I suppose it would be cheaper than buying a new console when one of the big three makes a new one. Will have to see and of course only time will tell. Probably wait around a while and stick with my console and see how Onlive does. Wish it well though = )
