What if onlive had an option to play with people in the same city as you? You could play with people in the same area and once you got to know em you could throw onlive parties. What do you think?

Well the onlive parties im not so sure about, but a system were you can search for people in your area wouldn't be too bad. Would be quite good for the first year after release.

I remember the dreamcast would let you search by region. It could work if it were a little more in depth than the DC did it.

I'm not overally sure though, they don't want to promote people in local areas actually MEETING by making a feature that makes it easy since there has been alot of controversy over that lately. I do like the idea however what with servers, you'll be connected to people within the same 1000 miles radius as you so theres not too much trouble when it comes to nto wanted to play people half way across the globe.

I agree, I believe that playing people within 1000 miles of you is close enough. In today's world (it's sad) there are too many creeps who would utilize the "proximity" feature to do bad things.

I think that the region idea is good somewhat similar to the Nintendo DS that has that capability. I would like to comment on this idea and also point it to rank have a grouping by rank if your like a hard core gamer or Novice for example.

This idea sounds like facebook where you can search schools, cities, states. Hmm... that would be very cool. Then you chat with them in a game and become friends. You could also create clans based on location with this awesome feature.

I wouldn't mind seeing this feature, as long as it could be disabled. With that being said, I think it should be turned on by default with the option to opt out.

Yeah, that could work, you should be able to have the "proximity" feature, but have the ability to turn it off.

Isn't that exactly what Darq just said?

OnLive could be set up like facebook, which automatically makes your profile (And presumable location) viewable to only your friends, but allows everyone to see your profile. Hopefully OnLive will have a proximity feature, because I would hate to actually try and meet people in the real world first that play OnLive, then add them as a friend, but rather find them on OnLive then "add" them as a friend in real life. LOL

Hahaha! The sequence here just makes me chuckle.

When Steve Perlman discussing OnLive at the GDC he touched briefly on how their intentions are to provide gamers with a great online community. If this feature doesn't come out when released, I imagine it will shortly after. ;)

Thank you for your excellent reference. I would rep you, but it won't let me give anymore rep.

My belief: OnLive will replace everything in the home: From facebook to the washing machine.

I knew you were just a pessimist at heart. ;)
