What the title says:
Doesn't that mean well since they call it an open beta, that everyone who signs up will be in the beta.

And if the following I said isn't true they should change the title to a closed beta so people don't get confuse like I am right now..

Open beta means that anyone can sign up, but they won't necessarily use everyone.

usually they accept tons of people. i dont think they can accept everyone, but people who meet the requirements will probably get in. so sign up multiple times with different internet speeds and operating systems (thats what i did!)

More then likely Onlive will want to accept as many people as possible to see if there are latency issues when there are a ton of gamers playing at once. Will they accept everyone? It's possible. However I'm guessing they will turn off the beta signup page when they reach the desired number they will to use.

Open beta will allow anyone to sign up but only those with the specs required will get in, they may accept a few people who are lower than the specs needed to test if they can handle people with lower connections.

Open Beta means everyone can sign up, but not everyone will get selected to play.

No I'm pretty sure open beta means everyone and anyone can sign up and they will be apart of it. When home came out for PS3 it was called a closed beta and only some people got selected for it, I was one of the lucky ones. About half my friends with PS3s also got the beta but since it was closed not all did.

Open beta means that anyone can sign up, signing up does not guarantee a spot in the beta.

Well, I haven't seen anything on OnLive that refers to the beta as "open" so... I have seen the usage or the word "external" in the FAQ (http://www.onlive.com/service/faq.html). But that doesn't mean "open," it merely means that some people who are not affiliated with OnLive can participate.

Open beta SHOULD mean anyone can DL it and try it out. In my experiences, all betas allow you to sign up whether it's closed or open - closed has meant that you have to be selected from the entries for it.

I could be wrong, however.

Come to think of it...I haven't heard that the word "open" with any mention of the beta, where does it say open?

Sorry to bring up an old thread... but in light of new info...

This is from the onlive.com Blog

You’ll hear and see plenty from us this year in the run up to our external Beta and launch, delivered directly to your home through your broadband connection

I don't know, it kind of sounds like he is implying that everybody can get the Beta this summer. Is this how you guys take this? I may be trying to make something out of nothing.

I'm not entirely sure but it would be nice. However, they still had sign ups and said they would "select" the people they would have join. Though, with their recent announcement of the E3 absence, they might look at changing that and opening it up.

Well they stated that they tested the system in france using the onlive system so some europeans may be chosen for beta testing of the system.
