Does anyone know what the minimum internet speed will need to be in order to play games on onlive? I have a DSL connection. Will it work for me?
I believe you will need atleast a 1.5 connection speed, but I can't confirm this. Perhaps someone else knows the answer.

According to Engadget they will support 1.5 MBPS and up. The great thing is that there are different levels of image quality dependent on your connection speed, and Onlive automatically picks the best to fit your speed:
OnLive claims to have perfected the interactive video compression technique so that latency is low enough to support on-line multi-player setups. Broadband connections of 1.5Mbps (71% of US homes have 2Mbps or greater) dials the image quality down to Wii levels while 4-5Mbps pipes are required for HD resolution.

it auto chooses for you, when my internet connection is shared with my sister i can see the quality drop a bit without having to have any of my input

OnLive has not released the SD stream yet, and we don't know if they ever will.
The minimum requirement (http://www.onlive.com/support/performance) for HD is 3 Mbps right now (recommended 5 Mbps) and by the end of summer they will try to improve the algorithm and reduce the limit to 2 Mbps.
But more important than your bandwidth is your stability. If you have packet loss or jitter you will get compression artifacts or get disconnected.

It is 3Mbps. I have tried at my house which is up to 3Mbps and I can't log in. I usually get around 2.5Mbps at all times. Also it says on their support page!

Honestly I would suggest having AT LEAST 8mbps. I have what comcast says is 16mbps but it's really going at 8 and it lags a bit but it's perfectly playable.

Try lowering your Screen resolution. I use this when I am on a 4G clearwire network. and it seems to allow me on when im at 800x600

It is now two megabits but would be really cool if they lowered it down to 1.5Mbps streaming. By their faq page the 2Mbps streams at 576p. http://support.onlive.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/69
I don't see why they shouldn't allow 1.5Mbps at 480p.

Does anyone know if there is a way to limit the bandwidth use of an application. Like to make OnLive run at only 2 Mbps and no more?

Might be a setting on your router... it's not vary common on residential routers though. I've looked into programs and the only free one I found was Netbalancer which limits it but for whatever reason Onlive will continually try to go above the cap every 5-10 seconds which makes it unplayable. The best solution I found was Netlimiter, it works perfect, 19.99 for lite version(which might work) and 29.99 for the pro version, has a free trial too.

I was searching google and I found Netlimiter too. I tried it out and first I limited my speed to 1.5 Mbps and Onlive wouldn't launch. So then I tried 2Mbps and it launched but the controls were really delayed. I'm going to try 2.5 and 3.0 next. This is a really cool program to help not reach my bandwidth cap and lets me play onlive more.

Well it would probably work well on a wired connection. I'm wireless so I'm still getting input lag even though the video looks perfect. Someone on a wired connection should try netlimiter if your worried about reaching your cap each month.

Netlimiter shouldn't add any input lag unless your capping the upload speed, you don't upload much to Onlive so it's not really worth capping it.

Omg I love you. That was the problem. I removed the upload cap and now it works perfect at 2Mbps. I'm really excited now, thanks!
