I decided to make a poll on this one. I would be so angry if it was a joke.

Poll closes tomorrow.

I would say highly unlikely, considering they released the news a week before AF. Also, they've registered the trademark and purchased the domain.

I agree, why would the developers go through all that hassle just to have it be an April Fool's joke? Can you imagine the backlash that would hit the developers if they came out and said it was a joke? Plus, supposedly, they have been ghost developing it for 7 years or such, and I don't think the developers would spend 7 or so years on an April Fool's joke.

Why would anyone make a joke like this and spend so much money to do it.

I'm not sure if you're familair with economics or whether you are just a kid, but Game Developers Conference is a pretty expensive ordeal to set up for to pull a "joke". No one would find it funny. They would just think those guys are stupid for wasting thier time and it would definately ruin their reputations. These aren't your friends in school. ;) They are multimillionaires who don't kid arround when it comes to business. Whether they can make it work or not you can argue. But they will certainly try...without joking about it. :D

Well, this guy is apparently already rich... so...

Many companies announce crazy things for April Fools jokes and starting a joke a week in advance is not uncommon.

Based on what I saw though at GDC, there is no way they could possibly do that any other way. No way it is an April Fools joke. Well, there is always another way, but highly unlikely.

Blizzard and Google are both known for April Fools jokes every year. And nope, they aren't my friends at school.

There is so much I could say here, and I am straining to hold it back, so all I am going to say is the answer is no, and I am 110% sure of it.

Making a funny article on a website is a lot different from setting up a booth in a conference. You can do that too with a free Live Space site or whatever on your own. Or perhaps this thread is your idea of an "April Fools joke"? :o

Well, if you look arround, there are more companies that anounced competative services that are similer. Some were holding out until later, but I guess they felt they have to reveal themselves rather than let OnLive steal the spotlight.

Which would make it pretty epic. Talk about sticking to your gimmick!

Well its April fools and Onlive has not been proved to be a joke. So I will close this. Unless another mod wants to open it up again.
