View Full Version : Onlive Userranks discussion
Ok, since it seems like a lot of our members would like to have userranks based on posts, I thought we'd discuss it here.
Please let me know what you think for userranks
So far we have:
Onlive Legend
Onlive Warrior
Onlive Gamer
Onlive Player
Onlive Beginner
Onlive Newbie
Do these 6 sound good, in that order? Let me know

Aren't 'Player' and 'Gamer' very similar things, also 'Newbie' and 'Beginner' are the same thing. Sorry I don't have any actual suggestions, maybe 'Onlive Pro' instead of one?

I'm not fond of them, sorry. Here are two lists - you don't necessarily have to use all or in order, but feel free to take individual ranks:
http://i38.tinypic.com/xlh72u.jpg
and...
* Newbie 0
* Hippie 50
* Forum Pawn 75
* Forum Nuisance 200
* Night at the GB Motel 300
* Lives Here 500
* Starbucks Poster 750
* Dark Poster 1000
* Mainstream Poster 1500
* I'm Like the Plague 2000
* My Posts are Pollution 2500
* Cause of Global Warming 3500
* King of the Jungle 4500
* Half a Husker 5000
* Spam Artist 6000
* Gamebattles Wizard 7500
* Battle Scarred 10000
* Veteran 15000
* Legendary 20000+
I don't take credit for either of them. The first was made by a poster on the Gamebattles.com forums (I forget who), and the second was used for about a year on GB forums.

I think its a good idea to have as many as possible like HeadMod's list.

Yup - the more the better. At this point, we probably don't need ones for 2500 and up, but in the future we will.
Ok, I've come up with these. Nothing is final, just want some input:
Prophet =
Legend =
Famous Poster =
Veteran =
Warrior =
Expert =
Respected Pro =
Pro =
This Forum is My Life =
Getting Noticed =
Some People Know Me =
Novice =
Player =
Still on Training Wheels =
Newbie = 0

Getting better, but I still think some of them like "warrior", "veteran", "pro", etc. are a little too generic. Maybe come up with a few lists (say, 3-4) and have a poll for people to vote on them?

Those seem like some good suggestions.

You should reference OnLive at least in the top one... like "The Prophet of OnLive"
Another good one... "Know it all":rolleyes:
"What's OnLive?" I like that one:D

With the rep system in place, are we really going to need "ranks"? The Rep system allows us to compliment the quality of posts rather than the quantity.
Let the end user decide on the merits of the ideas. They will associate quality with the comments made.
There should be one rank: Moderator.

I don't think so. It is too hard to track moderator actions, I assume. This would bring the forums down quickly, Alex.
Are we still going to do the userrank thing? It definitely would be a great addition.

All forums should have a rank of quality of posts (contribution) and quantity of posts (time spent).

Swap the "pro"s.
Can we just use these and get on with it? EHHHH?

Sure, do you have any suggestions for the actual post count needed for each rank?

That depends. Can you boost my posts to 1000? :)

Prophet = 2000
Legend = 1500
Famous Poster = 1000

Newbie = 0
Forget my post about swapping the "pro"s they are good the way they are.
I agree with the lesser ranks that ryan post, but I think that we should accommodate higher post counts.

I'm down for these values. I vote go ahead and implement it and see how it looks/feels

Not so long ago I PM'ed admin asking if he could make my name pink and give me a personal rank, or a blank one. He never replied. :(

Quickly, make a deal with MAG! Require of him to remove the video link of Timotei girl or something, then turn his name purple. We got 'm! :pound:

It's my fault. I linked to this in another thread... :pout:
But I guess the admins could turn on some kind of auto-lock once threads reach a certain age? :thinking:

MORE than 2000 as a max, look at some of the people who have posted in here. put it up higher and encourage posting for the sake of posting.
May I suggest these numbers NOT to be revealed for the reason stated above.
MAG1270
01-12-2011, 04:37 PM
Well they were kind of revealed because we in this very thread decided these numbers. :razz:
2000 is fine as of now. If 10 or so reach that we could simply add more ranks. :) I don't think anyone right now is a Prophet.

Oh, I see. I guess it's also best not to lock old threads. Just because they are old doesn't mean they can't do good. ;)

There's no harm when in revamping an old thread. Especially when MAG is involved. ;)

Lollerblades... Maybe we should just create a "Graveyard" forum section to place all threads that are super old.
